Jill about Haarlemmermeer: "You always meet someone"
Jill is a Venneper through and through
Jill (20) lives in Nieuw-Vennep with her parents, older brother, and sister. She works in a clothing store in the village and knows Haarlemmermeer inside and out. "I've lived here my whole life," she says. "It just feels familiar and cozy, with the village atmosphere of the past. And yet everything you need is close by: shops, sports, nature—you have everything within reach."
Fun guaranteed
What appeals to her about Haarlemmermeer? "You grow up here with people your own age and everyone knows each other a little bit. That's why you always run into people you know and that makes it so cozy." Her favorite place is Bar Bruis, a café-restaurant that hasn't been around for very long. "It's always busy, you can enjoy delicious food, have a drink, and meet locals. They organize something fun every week, like live music or oysters. Highly recommended."
Just a quick walk, fresh air, taking the dogs with me, that's my moment of peace after the busy student life.
Guilty pleasure
A real guilty pleasure of Jill is the cinema Kinepolis in Hoofddorp. She enjoys going to the movies, preferably a good horror movie. The large, modern cinema in the city center is her favorite spot. "I like horror movies," she says with a laugh. "I usually watch them with my dad; we've been doing that for years." At least once a month, they sit together in the cinema for a thrilling evening.
Favorite moment of the week
Jill looks forward to her regular walk through the Venneperhout every week. “I love going for a walk. Fresh air, taking the dogs. That's my real moment of peace after the busy student life.” Afterwards, she enjoys a coffee at the Venneper Lodge and her day is complete. "For me, it's the little things that make Haarlemmermeer so wonderful."
