The best outdoor outings
A place the family always visits is the Toolenburgerplas. “Since we had children, we go there several times a year. It's close by, free, and fun for all ages. In the summer we go swimming, but we're often there in other seasons too. It's a firm favorite for us. We regularly cycle past it on our way to school. You see the trees changing color, becoming bare, and then turning green again in the spring. I think that's beautiful.”
Playgrounds are also high on the list. "What's so great about Hoofddorp is that almost every neighborhood has great playgrounds. So you don't always have to plan a big outing to let the kids have fun."
Family outings in bad weather
Even on rainy days, they won't be bored. "The Play Castle is always a hit. The kids can have a blast there." Laura also recommends Cpunt in Hoofddorp and Nieuw-Vennep. "They regularly organize fun indoor activities for young children, like the Toddler and Preschool Festival."
I had wanted to go there for a long time and finally went last year.
Hidden gem
Laura's hidden gem? The Grazing Swan festival! "I'd been wanting to go for a while and finally made it last year. It was absolutely fantastic. Kids can do crafts, have their faces painted, and see short performances. Some activities are free, others cost a small fee. We had a weekend ticket for the whole family, which was surprisingly affordable. The festival is usually around mid-September and is now definitely on our calendar."
