Martin Langeveld is the founder of the music event MeerLive Festival. This fun event takes place every year in Hoofddorp. It is one of the largest multi-day music festivals in Haarlemmermeer. What is your link with Haarlemmermeer? 

I myself have been living in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer for over 35 years. I started MeerLive Festival 22 years ago. The cooperation with the municipality and the city marketing department has always been pleasant. They support the festival in all areas where they can, which is very nice. 
 

How did you get started with MeerLive? 

The idea came about 22 years ago because at that time only events took place in Hoofddorp that were aimed at an older target group. We thought that there should also be a festival for a younger audience. The age of the visitors of MeerLive is now between 14 and 80 years.

What can you experience during the MeerLive Festival?  

MeerLive is an annual music festival in Hoofddorp. The festival has been free for 22 years now. Unfortunately, this will soon change. Due to the current safety regulations, it will no longer be possible to grant free access to a festival of this size. At a free festival you have no control over the number of visitors, so you cannot write a safety plan for it.  
 

We are still busy with the new plans for this year's festival. Fortunately, the festival will continue this year! The festival is scheduled for the second weekend in September. We always organize MeerLive after the summer holidays and also after Mysteryland, so that these festivals don't fall at the same time.  
 

What kind of musicians perform at MeerLive Festival? 

From Bløf & Kane to Guus Meeuwis: more than 250 musicians have already performed at MeerLive. What is special is that Wolter Kroes always closes the event on Sunday. He has been doing this since the first year. Every year he closes the festival. 

Our artists are mainly Dutch speaking, but we have also had foreign acts. Think of musicians like The Trammps and Jocelyn Brown. We also have a party band, TOF! Party band, who has also been with us since the beginning. This band comes from Groningen. These kinds of things are unique in the Netherlands. 

I am proud of the team I work with and that we have a brand awareness of 99% within Haarlemmermeer.

What else makes your company unique in Haarlemmermeer? 

MeerLive Festival is a bit of a reunion in the summer of Haarlemmermeer. All age groups come together. Everyone meets again at MeerLive after the summer holidays. This applies not only to the public, but also to the business community. MeerLive Festival has almost 300 sponsors from the region. 
 

What are you proud of as an entrepreneur in Haarlemmermeer? 

I am proud of all the relationships that MeerLive has created, both on a business and private level. Everyone gathers here. I am also proud of the team I work with, and that we have a brand awareness of 99% within Haarlemmermeer. And that we have had almost every artist from the Netherlands. 
 

I am proud that the MeerLive Festival has been freely accessible for over 20 years. It is the best event in Haarlemmermeer. I therefore invite everyone to the second weekend of September to MoreLive Festival come to Hoofddorp and enjoy all the fun!
