Why this festival?

The municipality of Haarlemmermeer has been a Rainbow municipality since 2019. Traditionally, on international Coming Out Day on 11 October, the rainbow flag flies high in the flagpole in many places and all kinds of activities are organized around LGBTI+ acceptance. With the Rainbow Festival, residents and involved organizations in Haarlemmermeer clearly show that they support a society in which everyone can be themselves regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. They target all citizens.
