Of these 1623, 1010 votes went to hay house farm Blauhek. With that, the farm won by a wide margin. Fort van Hoofddorp followed at an appropriate distance with 349 votes. Ancient tiles

Farm Blauhek in Spaarnwoude dates from around 1750. It is therefore one of the oldest farms in Haarlemmermeer. On the outside of the farm, the high, wooden hay house catches the eye. It is the most striking part of the building. In the hall, the visitor encounters an ancient tiled floor and a staircase that leads to an old-fashioned upstairs room. In the middle of the kitchen, a wooden construction reminds of the time when cows lived here. Residents of Haarlemmermeer who took part in the election were impressed by all these details and expressed this in the large number of votes that went to Blauhek.

Fort van Hoofddorp is part of the former Defense Line of Amsterdam. The Fort was built between 1880 and 1920 as a permanent defense building around the capital. Between 2010 and 2020, the Fort was restored by the Fort van Hoofddorp foundation. It is now multifunctional and can be used as an open-air theater, meeting location and restaurant.

'Longhouse'

Farm Den Burgh is a good example of a so-called 'long house'. It was probably built around 1861 when men from all over the Netherlands came to Haarlemmermeer to work on draining the polder. The restoration of Stadsherstel Amsterdam has given the farm a new use as a restaurant.

The election of the monument of the year took place between the walls of last year's winner: the Oranje Nassau School in Badhoevedorp. There, the heritage committee of Haarlemmermeer explained the historical values of the three nominees. The prize itself was handed over by alderman Mariëtte Sedee of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer. She replaced her fellow alderman Marja Ruigrok, who was absent due to other obligations.
