Fort cycle route

The route starts at the station in Hoofddorp. From here you cycle via the Geniedijk past the Battery on the Sloterweg, as the first part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam.

Via Hoofddorp you cycle on to the village of Aalsmouderbrug. Here you will find the first historic fort of the route: the Fort near Aalsmeer where you CRASH Air War & Resistance Museum '40-'45 finds. In this museum you can learn everything about the crashed planes from the Second World War. But also about their crews, the people in hiding in Haarlemmermeer and much more!

Via Rozenburg you cycle up, past the Battery on the IJweg and the Haarlemmermeerse Bos. Via Zwaanshoek you eventually arrive at Cruquius. Here lies the historical De Cruquius pumping station. This steam pumping station from 1849 is one of three pumping stations with which Haarlemmermeer was drained between 1849 and 1852. This unique location has since been converted into a cultural hotspot with an innovative museum.

When you arrive in Vijfhuizen you will find it beautiful Kunstfort Vijfhuizen. As the name suggests, this is also one of the forts that are part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. In this special place, visual art and military heritage come together. Here you can view exhibitions, participate in workshops or enjoy delicious food.

From Vijfhuizen you cross the Battery on the IJweg again and cycle to Hoofddorp, where you will find the Fortress of Hoofddorp finds. There is much to experience at this unique location. For example, you can attend theater performances and concerts in the open-air theater and view exhibitions in this beautiful monumental building.
