Right next to Schiphol Airport you will find Schiphol-Rijk. This bustling place is named after the former village of Rijk, which disappeared in the 1950s to make way for Schiphol-Center. There are many large companies and offices in Schiphol-Rijk today, which is Haarlemmermeer's economic hub.

Fun fact: in Schiphol-Rijk, the streets are named after aircraft manufacturers, such as Bellsingel, Fokkerweg and Koolhovenlaan. Near Schiphol-Rijk is the former factory site of Fokker, a well-known aircraft manufacturer.
