Olmenhorst route
For example, Landgoed de Olmenhorst almost looks like a piece of Drenthe – with orchards, old buildings and small-scale vegetation. And the village of Abbenes is picturesquely situated on a canal with bridges over it and trees along it. Discover these special places during the Olmenhorst walking route!
Starting point
The route starts at the bridge over the Ringvaart from Lisse to Lisserbroek. Via Lisserbroek you first walk through the beautiful polder landscape, towards Landgoed de Olmenhorst.
1 Estate de Olmenhorst
The tastiest apples and pears grow on this orchard in Lisserbroek, which are grown with love and attention according to organic principles. The romantic Estate de Olmenhorst consists of no less than 30 hectares of apple and pear orchards. You will also find a cheese dairy, goat farm, various shops and workshops where cooking workshops can be followed for young and old.
2 Abbenes
From Landgoed de Olmenhorst you walk to Abbenes, a small village between Nieuw-Vennep and Buitenkaag, located on the Hoofdvaart. The name of this polder village comes from the island of the same name in the Haarlemmermeer, which has disappeared into the lake over time. In this beautiful village you will find five special monuments, such as the grave of doctor and writer JP Heije who spent his last years in Abbenes. You can also discover a stork's nest and a lush picking garden during your visit.
End point
Via Abbenes you walk the last part through the beautiful landscape back up to Lisserbroek. The route ends where you started, at Landgoed de Olmenhorst. Are you inspired to walk this fun walk? Then quickly view the entire route via the link below!
