Ommet Plesmanhoek

This walking route starts at the Plesmanhoek parking lot and bicycle shed in Hoofddorp, to be precise at the IJweg entrance. 

From Plesmanhoek you first walk a bit through the Haarlemmermeerse Bos, direction Big Spotters Hill. This hill was constructed in 2002 for the Floriade and is 42 meters high. The mound is made of the earth that was released during the excavation of ditches and ponds on the Floriade site. The shape is based on the Pyramid of Cheops in Egypt. Big Spotters Hill is a special vantage point in the Haarlemmermeerse Bos. Be sure to enjoy the beautiful view here! 

You will find a restaurant further on in the Haarlemmermeerse Bos, close to the lake Dad's Beach House. You can go here for a delicious lunch or dinner, inside the cozy pavilion, or outside on the terrace with a private beach. You can enter the water from the terrace! At Papa's Beach House you will also find the lockers of the Sup Sup Club - ideal if you want to explore the water from a sup board. 

It is located a bit further in the Haarlemmermeerse Bos Historical Museum Haarlemmermeer. In this museum you can learn everything about the general history of this 170-year-old polder. The indoor museum has a central square with a recreated school, a church and of course a café. There is even a water pump in the middle! The Haarlemmermeerpolder was drained for agricultural land. That is why you will also find many old agricultural tools here. Tip for the kids: children aged 4 to 12 can do a scavenger hunt here. Fun and educational!
