History Landgoed De Olmenhorst

After the reclamation of the Haarlemmermeer, the Amsterdam merchant Stephanus de Clercq came to Lisserbroek. Here he bought the first land of De Olmenhorst and founded a farm there. De Clerq already started growing fruit at that time. The sixth generation now runs the 165-year-old family business. The orchard is now many football fields large, is included in the list of 'natural beauty' and is a bird paradise. There are about 50.000 apple trees and 10.000 pear trees! The estate is accessible from sunrise to sunset. The dog is even allowed to come along, but must remain on a leash.

What to do at De Olmenhorst Lisserbroek?

You can visit De Olmenhorst all year round. The most beautiful time is of course spring when all the blossoms bloom or in autumn when the fruit is harvested. In De Fruitloods you can drink coffee with a pastry, enjoy a delicious lunch or experience 'Margrit's high tea' seven days a week. Here is also the store with juices and jams from the De Olmenhorst brand. In season you can buy the fresh harvest here. Do you want to organize something special for a friend or loved one? Then have a picnic in the orchard. At De Fruitloods you can order a well-stocked basket with delicious sandwiches and tasty snacks. A treasure hunt has been set out for children and the agenda always includes fun events such as a French market.

Picking apples at De Olmenhorst

Did you know that you can adopt a tree from the orchard? As a tree owner you can be the first to come by to pick 'your' apples in the fall! The picking season starts in mid-September. When exactly depends on the breed and the weather. Didn't adopt your own tree? Then join the picking with a guide. There are also separate picking days for school classes and childcare. Grandfathers and grandmothers often give their grandchildren their own adoption tree as a gift. Picking yourself is a real tradition for families from all over the country!
