More than 150 visitors enjoyed a radiant afternoon with fun activities at the picnic meadow. After the official part, a delicious coffee cart and ice cream stand were ready. For the children, there was face painting and a puppet show. There were also coloring pages and there was enough coffee, tea and ice cream for everyone.

From walking forest to city park

Alderman Marja Ruigrok: “What a beautiful day to reflect on something special together. Because what was once the Wandelbos is now officially the Stadspark Hoofddorp – the green heart of Hoofddorp has been brought back to life! Let's go back in time: the original forest was designed in the 30s by Wieger Bruin as a job creation project. The Fruittuinen were added later. And now, more than 90 years later, this area has been transformed into a lively city park that offers space for young and old.”

Tour of the park

There was also plenty of walking in the park. One of the activities was namely walking the 2 kilometer round park. Our experts of the city park told us along the way about the choices that were made during the redevelopment of the park. More was told about the new walking paths, white polder bridges, flora and fauna and the butterfly garden. The new playgrounds and playground equipment were also discussed.
