PARK21: the green recreational heart of Haarlemmermeer

Thanks to the development of Haarlemmermeer, the number of inhabitants of the municipality is growing rapidly. This also means that extra space is needed where residents can spend their free time. PARK21 offers the perfect solution for this. PARK21 is a recreation park for everyone! With space for sports and relaxation, agriculture, innovation, education and a huge amount of greenery. The brand new park is located between Hoofddorp and Nieuw-Vennep in the middle of Haarlemmermeer and is a total of 1000 hectares (approximately 1.400 football fields).

A park for and by everyone!

The municipality is developing PARK21 together with residents, entrepreneurs, farmers, investors and other authorities. Based on the zoning plan, the municipality will see if ideas fit. By developing new areas, the basis of PARK21 will first take shape, after which the park will be expanded further and further.  

Leisure park for sports enthusiasts

There is plenty to do for sports enthusiasts in PARK21. In the northwestern part you will find the sports park of baseball and softball club Hoofddorp Pioniers. You can also play paddle at PadelPark21. There are various walking routes, cycling routes and bridle paths that meander through the green park. These paths take you to various parts of the park, the organic vegetable garden and playground Kleiland for the kids.  

Climbing and Crossing

Also in the northwestern part is Klimpark21. At this special location in PARK21, on the border with Hoofddorp and Nieuw-Vennep, you will find a sustainable and modern outdoor park. Here, beginners and advanced climbers can participate in exciting climbing routes. All under professional guidance of climbing instructors. There are various routes for climbing, scrambling and ziplining. With varying heights and challenges. What makes this climbing park extra special is that it is made entirely of sustainable material!  

In PARK21 you will also find the Electric Motorcross Park where you can ride a wild course on your motorbike. Are you not that adventurous? At the Parklanden farmers, a little further on, you can enjoy a farmers' Easter party or join in the cow dancing. In this beautiful place you can also take an extensive walk between the crops. In the autumn, visitors are even allowed to harvest their own potatoes and fry chips. 

The PARK21 Summer Week

Every year, the municipality organizes the PARK21 Summer Week. This is a week full of fun activities for young and old. For example, you can follow a children's circus workshop, visit the open-air cinema or sleep at the pop-up camping. You can also compete with other teams during the pub quiz or relax during the wellness evenings. The goal of the PARK21 Summer Week is to show the possibilities of the park and to introduce visitors to PARK21.

The plans for PARK21 

You may now be wondering when PARK21 will be ready. Good news: the first part of PARK21 is already finished and is in full use. The developers have drawn up a Masterplan for the entire park. This plan for PARK21 contains all the goals and main elements of the park. 

In the western part, the park heart will be located: a recreational lake with catering facilities. In the eastern part, there will be space for an event area. And in the middle of the park (behind Landgoed Kleine Vennep), the Groot Vennep sub-area will be located, with lots of water, greenery and paths. On the website of PARK21 you can see all the details of the plan and its progress. But even while PARK21 is still in development, there is already plenty to experience and this special place is definitely worth a visit!
