Off-leash area for the dog 

The fields of the Plesmanhoek are the ideal place to take the dog for a walk. The off-leash area starts from the parking lot. Here the dogs are allowed to run loose on the right side of the bike path. In the part to the left of the cycle path, they must be on a leash. You will also find a fenced dog playing field in the Plesmanhoek where dogs can run free all year round. The playing field with fruit trees is about 600 m2 and a nice and safe playground for dogs. 

The loose run route is more than 2,5 kilometers long and runs between the agricultural fields. If you come on a rainy day, wear good boots. The route passes through grasslands that become waterlogged when it rains. There is also a small beach where your dog can drink and splash. If you fancy a longer walk, you can combine a visit to the Plesmanhoek with the nearby Haarlemmermeerse Bos.  
 

Colorful fields 

The area of ​​approximately 35 hectares has beautiful colorful fields that give the Plesmanhoek a different look during the seasons. Traditional Dutch crops are grown here. Very nice and educational to see how, for example, potatoes, barley, mustard and grain grow.  

The area has been specially designed with the intention of cultivating historic agricultural crops. During a walk through the Plesmanhoek you really experience the original agricultural landscape. Interesting activities also regularly take place in the Plesmanhoek, such as walking routes between the crops and the pleasant sowing and harvest festivals. 
  

Pick your own bouquet 

In the summer, the area is in bloom with native herbs and flowers that attract all kinds of insects, such as bees and special butterfly species. Nice to know: you can just pick the flowers that grow in the special flower meadow. This way you can put together a beautiful bouquet during your walk to brighten up your own home. 
 

Cycling in the Plesmanhoek recreation area 

The Plesmanhoek is easily accessible by bicycle via the cycle path over the Geniedijk and from the IJweg. There is also a special bicycle bridge with which you can easily enter the recreation area. The cycle paths and hiking trails make this landscape ideal for exploring on a nice day. There are also bridle paths for horse lovers and riders. An exciting suspension bridge connects the area with the Geniedijk and is a fun challenge for children.
