Van Reeuwijk Fruit & Flowers: picking garden in Abbenes

Come and pick your own fresh fruit and strawberries! The Van Reeuwijk Fruit & Flowers picking garden is open from May to October. You can visit the shop and the covered terrace all year round. Register at the store during the picking season and set off with a basket. This is a fun and cozy outing for young and old. Picking strawberries and cherries takes place inside the greenhouse, so there is also something to experience here when it rains!

Pick your own strawberries

Flower company Van Reeuwijk started growing strawberries in 2007. This was an extra at the flower shop but turned out to be a great success. Until 2011, the surface was constantly expanded. Since then, everyone is welcome to pick healthy and fresh fruit from the grower.

Fruit picking garden: take a basket, pick and pay!

How does picking work in this picking garden? Actually very simple! With a basket you go on the road along the different types of fruit. In addition to strawberries, there are soft fruits such as black currants, blackberries, raspberries, cherries and gooseberries. Each variety ripens in a different season. Pick as much as you want. In the shop you pay what you have harvested afterwards. You can eat this delicious at home!

Pluktuin Abbenes with children

A day out to the picking garden is excellent with children. Go on a journey of discovery together and learn about the origin of fruit. After picking, the kids can play in the play corner or enjoy a fruit ice cream. Bakery Van Dam from Hillegom makes delicious ice cream with the fruit from Van Reeuwijk. A fruit juice with cake is of course also possible!

Flower shop and regional products

Do you want a flower that is fresh from the grower? Then visit the flower shop. This is different every day with beautiful bouquets, roses and tulips. Visitors come from all over the country for the peonies. A variety of regional products are also available in the shop. Such as lemonade syrup, jam and dessert sauce. In the spring there are fresh asparagus and stewed pears in the autumn.

Van Reeuwijk's shop, terrace and nursery are open from Monday to Saturday. There is enough space at the nursery to park for free. The picking season is from May to October. Fresh flowers and delicious regional products are for sale in the shop all year round. Van Reeuwijk is also easily accessible for the disabled! You can even participate in the self-picking in a wheelchair!
