Wickevoorter Stadsboeren: self-harvest garden in Cruquius

Brother and sister, Martin and Ada, started a city farm together in Cruquius on Landgoed Wickevoort. Vegetables and fruit are grown on the farm next to the Cruquius steam pumping station, which you can harvest yourself. Livestock such as chickens and pigs are also kept. As a result, there is a lot to experience on the city farm. A fun outing with the family!

Activities at the Wickevoorter city farmers

It is Martin and Ada's wish that many people feel at home with them. As a customer, as a volunteer, as a client in day care, as an intern, or simply as an interested (coincidental) passerby. At the city farmers there are countless fun activities to experience farm life. You can do this with the family, but also with the whole family or a group of colleagues. Ada and Martin are happy to tell you what they do and why, but they also like to let you experience it yourself. For example, pick your own fruit and vegetables in the self-harvest garden or join us for the farmer's dinner in August.

Not only can you learn a lot at school, you can also do that on the farm! Come to the city farm with your class and Ada will be happy to take you all on a journey of discovery. This can be a general introduction to the farm, but the lesson can also be linked to a theme that is discussed in class. Ada and Dirk are happy to talk to you to ensure that the teaching material meets the needs of students as closely as possible. You can discover many different things on a versatile farm like De Wickevoorter Stadsboeren.

Pick from the self-harvest garden

You can come and harvest vegetables every week in the self-harvest garden. The urban farmers ensure a healthy soil that does not become exhausted. To achieve this, they fertilize with animal manure or compost. The farmers sow and plant, weed, hoe and do everything they can to get the plants healthy. This is done naturally without artificial fertilizers and pesticides. You can then harvest the fruits and vegetables yourself from May to January.
