In this lecture, Professor Dr. Henny Lamers takes you on a journey through the universe, illustrated by spectacular images from the Hubble Space Telescope and other sources. We begin with Earth and our solar system, including the sun, planets, moons, and comets. Next, we look further out into space at distant stars, discovering the source of the sun's energy and what its future holds. Finally, we reach the edge of the observable universe and look back almost to the very beginning: the Big Bang.

Prof. Dr. Henny Lamers is a renowned popularizer of astronomy; he has delivered over 900 public lectures both in the Netherlands and abroad and has won various awards for his presentations. He is a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and an honorary member of the American Astronomical Society.
